Students from the School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry, Walailak University, participated in the cultural heritage activity “Southern Local Culinary Tradition”, where they had the opportunity to learn and practice making traditional Southern Thai desserts such as Khanom Jak made from Nakhon Si Thammarat’s local rice, Khanom Dok Jok, and Khanom Khao Krieb Wow.
The activity aimed to raise awareness among youth about the value of Southern Thai culinary culture, an important local wisdom that deserves to be preserved and passed on to future generations. It also provided a hands-on learning experience that enhanced practical skills while fostering pride in local identity.
This participation not only allowed students to experience the charm of Southern Thai food culture but also played a vital role in cultivating creativity—encouraging them to further develop ideas for the preservation and application of local wisdom in both academic and commercial contexts in the future.
