Walailak University Joins Forces with Public and Private Sectors to Launch “AgriNext 2026,” Revolutionizing Southern Thailand’s Agriculture with Innovation
Walailak University (WU) has officially launched “AgriNext 2026,” a grand agricultural fair running from March 14–23, 2026. Under the theme “AgriNext: Transforming Agriculture with Innovation,” the event aims to bridge the gap between advanced research and local communities, focusing on cost reduction, value addition, and driving the grassroots economy of Southern Thailand toward global competitiveness.
On March 14, 2026, at 3:00 PM, the official opening ceremony was held at the central stage, Next Gen Building, Walailak University. The event was presided over by Mr. Ekachai Sunthorn, Vice Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, delivered the welcoming remarks, while Associate Professor Dr. Mullica Jaroensutasinee, Vice President for Science and Technology, reported on the event’s objectives.
The ceremony was attended by a distinguished delegation, including Associate Professor Dr. Worawan Panpipat, Dean of the School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry, university executives, faculty, students, government officials, and a large number of local farmers and interested citizens.
AgriNext: Shaping the Future of Farming
Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong emphasized that Walailak University’s core mission is to generate knowledge that elevates the agricultural sector to keep pace with global changes. The “AgriNext” concept reflects a commitment to driving “Future Agriculture” by integrating science, technology, and innovation with local wisdom.
“We are focusing on Precision Agriculture, Smart Farming, and Sustainable Agriculture,” Professor Dr. Sombat stated. “Our goal is to increase productivity, mitigate risks, and create stable income for farmers through innovative solutions.”
