Molding Desserts, Molding Hearts: SAF Boosts Student Well-being with Traditional Southern Sweet Treats

On August 19, 2026, the School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry (SAF) at Walailak University hosted the “Pan Kho, Pan Jai” (Molding Kho, Molding Hearts) event. Organized under the ‘Wednesday Afternoon for Student Mental Health’ initiative, the activity aimed to provide a relaxing space to alleviate academic stress while fostering warm relationships within the School.

The atmosphere was filled with joy, laughter, and smiles from both students and faculty members. Participants enjoyed a hands-on experience making “Kanom Kho,” a famous traditional Southern Thai dessert. From kneading the dough and inserting the palm sugar fillings to coating the treats in freshly grated coconut, the process offered more than just a delicious taste of local culinary heritage. The dessert-making served as a form of art therapy, helping students practice mindfulness, relieve tension, and exchange positive energy with friends and SAF seniors in a close-knit setting.

The “Pan Kho, Pan Jai” event reflects the School’s strong commitment to nurturing students’ mental well-being alongside their academic excellence, ensuring a sustainable, happy, and supportive learning environment for all.
