Philosophy/Objectives
The program aims to produce graduates who capable of their knowledge and skills on problem-solving, analytical ability, developing and applying theoretical concepts to develop human resources for creating new products, processes and technologies in agro-industry particularly in the field of Biotechnology and Food Science and Technology with the international standard. Academic Biotechnologist and Food Technologist also have professional autonomy and ethical aspects, communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge mobilization and knowledge translation, and career management. Master of Science Program in Agro-Industry, Walailak University, we realize that advancement in agro-industry knowledge together with the quality graduates, Biotechnologist and Food Technologist is becoming an attractive destination for us to create the new innovative products, processes and technologies that could make a significant contribution to the transformation of rural, national and global development. Agro-industry, Walailak University, become a part of rural community and industries in Southern Thailand that provide “area-based research” related to agricultural resources such as oil palm, fruits and vegetables, rice, medicinal plants, seafood, biomass and agro-industrial waste to support research problems with high added value, clean and environmental friendly and socially sustainable. Also, biotechnology and food industry is one of the First S-Curve industries promoted in Thailand 4.0 policy that makes us concern that developing research expertise in agro-industry not only help to solve the world problems but also the rural farmers and every sectors of Thai industries, especially SMEs to adapt to global competitiveness.
