Researchers at the Center of Excellence for Essential Oil Innovation have devised a method for adding GABA. (Gamma-aminobutyric acid, GABA) in germinated brown rice. The GABA is an amino acid that acts as a neurotransmitter that helps maintain the balance of the nervous system. This method is simple & fast and also suitable for further development into high GABA food products.
This research was discovered by Ajarn Dr. Sumetee Songsamer, Researcher of the Center of Excellence and a full-time lecturer in food science and innovation courses, School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry.
