Scholarships Requirement for International Students to Study a Bachelor’s Degree
School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry Academic Year 2024

1. Requirements
1.1 Applicants must have a high school diploma that is recognized by the Thai Ministry of Education (Mathayom Suksa 6 or Grade 12).
1.2 Applicants must have a cumulative GPAX in accordance with the requirement listed in the table below.
1.3 Applicant is not a recipient of a tuition fee waiver scholarship at Walailak University or other funding sources.
1.4 Applicants must not have any misbehavior or any excessive bad behavior background.
1.5 Be physically and mentally healthy.
1.6 Applicants must have a very good command of the English language. Non-Native English Speakers are required to have a valid and the minimum scores in one of the following international English language tests:
– IELTS 5.0
– TOEFL (Internet-based) 45
– CEFR B1

2. Acceptance criteria and number of receipts
School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry, Walailak University will award one full scholarship to study in bachelor’s degree program for foreign student for the academic year 2024. It consists of 2 courses;
1) Bachelor of Science Program in Agriculture and Innovation
2) Bachelor of Science Program in Food Science and Innovation

3. Terms and Conditions of the Scholarship
3.1 Full tuition fee waiver (100%)
• Recipients must maintain their grade with a GPAX 3.25 without grade F or U in any course for the duration of the four-year degree. A recipient whose GPAX is lower than 3.25 in any semester will have his/her scholarship terminated for the following semester.
• Recipients are sometimes required to contribute and engage in activities organized by the university on an appropriate regular basis and period.
• Recipients must contribute at least 36 hours per semester to administrative/tutorial work at School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry or Walailak University.
3.2 Partial tuition fee waiver (75%)
• Recipients must maintain their grade with a GPAX 3.00 without grade F or U in any course for the duration of the four-year degree. A recipient whose GPAX is lower than 3.00 in any semester will have his/her scholarship terminated for the following semester.
• Recipients are sometimes required to contribute and engage in activities organized by the university on an appropriate regular basis and period.
• Recipients must contribute at least 25 hours per semester to administrative/tutorial work at School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry or Walailak University.
3.3 Partial tuition fee waiver (50%)
• Recipients must maintain their grade with a GPAX 2.75 without grade F or U in any course for the duration of the four-year degree. A recipient whose GPAX is lower than 2.75 in any semester will have his/her scholarship terminated for the following semester.
• Recipients are sometimes required to contribute and engage in activities organized by the university on an appropriate regular basis and period.
• Recipients must contribute at least 18 hours per semester to administrative/tutorial work at School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry or Walailak University.
3.4 Recipients must not be a patient or in a condition that would be a serious obstacle for the study. As a part of the application process, we require all applicants to submit a health certificate along with the application. The health certificate must be issued by a certified medical professional and should not be older than six months from the date of submission. Please note that the submission of these certificates is mandatory for all applicants, and applicants without the required certificates will not be considered.
3.5 Recipients must strictly comply with the rules and regulations of Walailak University and School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry, including the degree requirements.
3.6 The duration of the scholarship cannot be extended. The scholarship will cover only 4 years.
3.7 Recipients are not allowed to accept any off-campus employment in Thailand during the duration of the scholarship.
3.8 All international students of Walailak University are required to purchase health insurance before arrival as stated in the regulations and guideline on health insurance for international students. Recipients must submit proof of medical insurance covering the duration of stay in Thailand to get an acceptance letter for visa application to enter Thailand.
3.9 A recipient must verify and certify themselves that they meet all admission requirements according to this announcement. If the university discovers later that the applicant does not meet the specified criteria, the applicant will be considered disqualified. In the event that any fees have been paid, the fees will not be refunded under any circumstances.
3.10 Failure to comply with the above-mentioned terms and conditions of the scholarship conditions will lead to the termination of the scholarship.

5. Important Notes
• The result of the consideration is at the discretion of the committee.
• Scholarships are highly competitive, therefore meeting the scholarship requirements does not guarantee being awarded scholarship.
• Minor adjustments in the requirements and conditions may be made upon the conclusion of the scholarship committee who will announce these changes in advance.
• The scholarship recipients must follow all the Rules and Regulations of Walailak University and also follow Laws, Rules, and Regulations of Thailand as applicable to foreigners living in Thailand.
• The scholarships do not provide health insurance coverage. All international students of Walailak University are required to purchase health insurance before their arrival.
• A recipient’s parents or guardians will be required to sign a letter stating that they will support the student’s cost of living throughout 4 years of studying at Walailak University.


6. Visa Information
All full-time foreign students are required to obtain an education visa before entering Thailand. A supporting letter from Walailak University will be forwarded to students after they are officially accepted for admission by the university, which will be used when applying for an education visa at Royal Thai Embassy in a student’s country.
